Move complies with legislation passed over 20 years ago.
This past week, the Pentagon announced that it has added four companies to its blacklist against Chinese technology and industrial efforts with possible ties to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). One of the companies blacklisted was the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp., a significant effort by China to phase out reliance on foreign technologies in favor of locally made goods.
The additions bring the current total number of Chinese companies blacklisted up to 35. The growing list by the Pentagon fulfills a mandate by a U.S. law in 1999 that requires the cataloging of PLA owned or controlled companies. Previous entities cited by the U.S. Department of Defense are Chinese state-owned companies in the energy, construction, and communications sectors.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he seeks international peace and cooperation.
- For the Pentagon as they continue to explore how best to interact with foreign powers.
- That the Lord would permeate the political interactions between China and the United States.
